4 delicious Summer Drinks

4 delicious Summer Drinks

Hey lovely people,

who doesn’t love cool and fresh drinks on hot summer days? There are a lot of different kinds of summer drinks and cocktails. I collected 4 of my favourite drinks and decided to share them with you. 🙂

I am not that kind of person who drinks a lot of alcohol, but sometimes I really enjoy drinking good long drinks and to me summer is the absolute cocktail (of course with alcohol) season!

So I recommend you my summer must-have of alcoholic drink!

You can ask anybody from my friends and family, which my favourite drink is and everybody will answer ‘Hugo’ of course.

I am not quite sure if non-native Austrians know this drink but it’s super easy and very tasty!

HUGO:

  • 1 red wine glass
  • Champagne (Prosecco)
  • 4-5 mint leaves
  • 2 slices of a lemon or lime
  • elderflower syrup
  • 75 ml mineral water
  • 4 ice cubes
  • straw (not important)

At first put the elderflower syrup into the wine glass and add the slices of lemon, ice cubes and mint leaves (for a better mint taste, mash the leaves softly). After that add the champagne and then the mineral water! At last stir the drink and put the straw in.

And my second summer drink is a classical Mojito. Yeah, everybody knows this cocktail but I really like it for hot summer days!

MOJITO:

  • big Cocktail glass (for Cocktail pros take a big beaker)
  • 5 fresh mint leaves
  • 6 cl white Rum
  • one spoonful of white sugar
  • mineral water
  • crushed ice
  • 1/2 – 1 lime

At first put the sugar and the mineral water into the glass and stir them. Add the lime slices and press the juice out of the limewith a spoon or fork, then put the mint leaves into the glass (for a better mint taste, mash the leaves softly). Put the crushed ice to the other ingredients and add the rum and the mineral water. At last stir the mixture with a spoon!

In summer to me ice-tea is one of my must-have of drinks, but I am always too lazy to make a self-made ice-tea, so I always buy these VERY unhealthy from the supermarkets and drink them like water (boo Nadine 👎🏽). But last summer I researched in the internet after good self-made ice-tea and astonishingly I found one which I really like and it’s not too difficult! Try it out!

PEACH ICE-TEA:

Peach Syrup:

  • 1 cup/120 grams  of sugar
  • 1 cup/240 millilitres of water
  • 2-3 sliced fresh peaches

Tea:

  • 3 Tea bugs (I took black tea)
  • 6 cups/1,2 litre of water

Boil the syrup ingredients. Then reduce heat to medium. Crush the peaches slices as you stir to dissolve sugar. Turn the heat cover off and let it chill for 30 minutes.

Boil water and brew tea letting steep 5 minutes.
Remove tea bags and let the tea cool down. Strain syrup through a fine strainer to remove fruit pieces. Add syrup to tea and ice. Maybe put some pieces of peaches in the glass!

And last but not least my all-time favourite drink in summer is the Homemade Honey Lemonade which I found on Pinterest a few months ago.

HOMEMADE HONEY LEMONADE: (fills a jug)

  • 1 cup/120 grams of honey
  • 1 1/2 cup/360 millilitres of freshly squeezed lemon juice, seeds removed
  • 2 thin lemon slices
  • 7 cups/1,5 litre of water
  • small bunch of mint leaves

Heat 1 cup of water at high heat on the hotplate until it’s steaming. Remove from heat and add honey, stir until dissolved. Let the honey water cool down.

Add the honey water to the jug, remaining water, fresh lemon juice, and lemon slices, stir to combine. Let it cool down until it’s ready to be served. Add ice to individual glasses and put some fresh mint leaves in. Enjoy!

What’s your summer must-have this year?
